7 Days Gorilla Trek Rwanda and Wildlife Tour; visitors should expect to view mountain gorillas at Volcanoes National Park, several primates’ species at Nyungwe Forest National Park as well as relaxing at Lake Kivu.
Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park
You will be picked up by our company driver guide from either your hotel or Kigali International Airport for a transfer to Nyungwe Forest National Park. Driving to Butare, Rwanda; enjoy the beautiful scenery views of the country side, and also have an en route stopover at the Murambi Genocide Memorial Site, lunch in Butare town before proceeding with your drive to your hotel / lodge. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (Luxury), Nyungwe Top View Lodge (Midrange) and Gisakura Guest House Lodge (Budget)
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking and Forest Canopy Walk
Rise early, have breakfast and assemble at the Nyungwe Forest Park offices for pre- tracking briefing on the code of conduct when tracking for chimpanzees. With all the necessary gear, embark on this expedition, and on locating them, expect an hour with them, observing and taking photographs. Later, have lunch; taking in the various sights and sounds of the dense forest. In the afternoon, proceed with a canopy forest walk through the dense woods; You will have a chance of viewing the entire Nyungwe Forest and its habitats from above while they watch you swing in the air; quite interesting though only for the strong hearted. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu
Following your breakfast; you will set off for Lake Kivu driving via Butare to Gisenyi province. Lake Kivu is part of the Great East African Rift Valley with a very beautiful inland beach surrounded with steep terraced evergreen rolling hills. Day 4: Full Day Boat Ride to Lake Kivu Islands
Upon rising, enjoy breakfast and engage in wonderful boat rides to some of Lake Kivu’s Virgin Islands, Napolean’s Hat Island, as well as the Nyamirundi Island – the renowned coffee manufacturing industry. While at Nyamirundi, learn the various steps through which Rwanda’s finest coffee is brought to table. Dinner and overnight at L. Day 5: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Following your breakfast, you will set off with your driver guide for Volcanoes National Park. Driving Northwest to Musanze province; enjoy the beautiful scenery views of the country side, and also have an en route lunch and later proceed with your drive to the park. Day 6: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Iby’wacu Cultural Visit
Upon rising, enjoy breakfast and report at the Kinigi park offices and engage in a morning briefing on the gorilla trekking code of conduct provided by the Park Warden. After this, embark on your gorilla trekking expedition; once you locate the amazing creatures, enjoy an hour with them before retrieving the starting point, to meet your guide for your return to the lodge. Have lunch and later take a visit to the Iby’wacu Cultural Village for Cultural entertainment and enrichment. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 7: Departure
Have breakfast at leisure and get ready for your drive back to Kigali for drop off at a hotel / airport for departure flight.
